I had a decent stay at The Highland House. The location is truly fantastic—central and easy for exploring Amsterdam. However, the room left a lot to be desired, especially considering the price I paid. There were issues with privacy and noise, and the shower situation was definitely not ideal.

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was called the Garage, which was reasonably clean but had no doors on the shower room. This made it difficult to have a private shower without disturbing my partner. The decor was unique, and the shower itself was spacious, but I felt the lack of proper privacy was a significant downside.
Service
8.0
The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating during my stay. They went above and beyond in providing tips about the area and helping with any requests I had. It was evident they cared about their guests' comfort, which was refreshing.
Location
10.0
The location of The Highland House is really good. It's within a short walk to many notable attractions and nestled among shops and restaurants. While this is a busy area, the hotel itself managed to maintain a quiet atmosphere, which I appreciated.
Dining
7.0
While breakfast was not available at the hotel itself, there were options just around the corner. I found this a bit annoying but manageable since I had plenty of nearby eateries to choose from.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel had basic facilities but did not have a proper reception area, which was inconvenient. I had to go to their sister hotel to retrieve my key after a delayed flight, and that process could have been smoother.

7.0/10

I had a pleasant stay at The Highland House, thanks to the attentive staff and the hotel's clean and chic decor. The location was incredibly convenient, making it easy to explore Amsterdam on foot. However, the experience was slightly marred by the uncomfortable pillows, which detracted from a restful night's sleep.

Rooms
8.0
The room was stylishly decorated and surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards. I particularly enjoyed the unique theme of my room, and the clean bathroom was a plus. However, the pillows were too small and firm, which affected my comfort during the night.
Service
10.0
The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to assist me. They even left handwritten notes with great local tips, which made me feel welcome and valued throughout my stay.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is perfect! It was just an easy 8-minute walk from the central station, allowing me to explore various attractions without hassle. Plus, it was tucked away on a quiet street, which was great for some peace and quiet.
Dining

While there wasn’t breakfast served on-site, I found a nearby café with good options just around the corner, making it convenient to grab a bite to eat before starting my day of exploring.
Facilities

The hotel was well-maintained and had all the essentials I needed. I appreciated the amenities, including complimentary beverages in my room, which added to the comfort of my stay.

I had a mix of experiences during my stay at The Highland House. The hotel is super cute with uniquely themed rooms that add a fun touch, and the staff was generally friendly and helpful. However, housekeeping left a lot to be desired; my room wasn’t properly cleaned, and I had some issues with the bed's comfort. Overall, while the ambiance and staff were highlights, the cleanliness issues really impacted my stay.

Rooms
6.0
I loved the unique designs of the rooms, but housekeeping was lacking. My bed was uncomfortable and lopsided, which made sleeping tough.
Service
7.0
The staff was friendly and accommodating for the most part, but some responses to concerns about cleaning weren't up to par.
Location
9.0
The location is awesome; it’s quiet yet super close to shops and restaurants, making it easy to explore the city.
Dining
5.0
Dining wasn't exactly a strong point since the hotel felt more like a bed and breakfast without breakfast options. The nearby sister hotel offered some decent breakfast choices.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel had decent amenities, they need to focus on better cleanliness and maintenance. The general facilities were okay but could be improved.

7.4/10

My stay at The Highland House overall was enjoyable, thanks to its fantastic location right in the heart of Amsterdam. I greatly appreciated the friendly and helpful staff, who made my experience more pleasant. However, the room was quite cramped, especially for a group of three. The design was charming, but a bit more space would have improved the stay significantly.

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was creatively appointed but felt very confined, especially with luggage. While the decor was modern and stylish, the lack of closet space was a downside. The bathroom was modern and the shower experience was excellent.
Service
7.0
I found the staff to be consistently friendly and willing to assist with any concerns. They even remembered to check in on me if I needed anything during my stay, which was a nice personal touch. However, my initial check-in experience was marred by some miscommunication that left me feeling unwelcome.
Location
9.0
The location is simply unbeatable, with most attractions and shops within a short walking distance. It was easy to navigate the bustling area, and being close to the Central Station made traveling around even more convenient.
Dining
8.0
Breakfast was served at a nearby sister hotel, and I found it to be of very good quality with a great selection. It certainly enhanced my morning routine while staying.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel offered essential facilities, although I would have liked a bit more in terms of storage options. The fast WiFi was a positive, and I enjoyed the complimentary water and treats in the room.

The Highland House has a fantastic location, close to many attractions with a good boutique feel. The unique room themes were charming, and I appreciated the friendly staff who were eager to help. However, my stay was marred by inconsistent housekeeping and some discomfort with the room layout.

Rooms
6.0
My room was beautifully decorated but had some peculiarities. For instance, the shower was open to the bedroom, which could be awkward, especially if sharing with a partner, and the bed felt lopsided. Additionally, I noticed that the cleanliness could have been much better, which was disappointing for an otherwise appealing place.
Service
7.0
The staff were generally friendly and willing to assist. They quickly offered us extra blankets and asked about our needs, although I found their inability to address housekeeping issues frustrating.
Location
9.0
Nestled in a prime spot, the hotel was surprisingly quiet despite being centrally located. I could easily walk to major attractions, making it convenient for exploring the city.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast options were available a short walk away at the sister hotel. While I didn’t partake, it would’ve been nice to have clearer information on that upfront.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel has a unique charm with creatively themed rooms, but some facilities could use improvement. Housekeeping needs better management and attention to ensure cleanliness and organization.
